Uphold review: what this platform is
Uphold is a long-standing, US/UK-licensed platform best known for transparency — it runs a real-time proof-of-reserves dashboard. Its earn product is proof-of-stake staking on assets like ETH and SOL.
How Earn works on Uphold
Staking is offered on a range of proof-of-stake assets (ETH around 2%, SOL around 6%), paid in the asset. Rates shown are indicative and move with network conditions. Uphold does not offer a clear stablecoin yield product in most regions. Checked 8 August 2026 through a US residential proxy exiting in Pennsylvania: uphold.com/api/staking-assets?country=us&state=us-pa. Each coin carries two fields, flexibleDetails and bondedDetails, and the difference matters. The flexible rate is withdraw-anytime; bonded means a lock-up whose term Uphold does not publish. We had been taking the bonded figure and labelling it flexible; 14 coins now carry their true flexible rate, and the 8 that have no flexible option at all are marked locked with no term, because inventing one would be worse than leaving it blank.
How to start on Uphold, step by step
- 01Open and verify an Uphold account.
- 02Deposit a supported proof-of-stake asset and enable staking.
Should you park money here?
- +Strong transparency — a public real-time proof-of-reserves dashboard.
- +Well licensed (US FinCEN, UK FCA) with a clean decade-long record.
- −Mostly staking only — limited or no clear stablecoin yield in many regions.
- −Rates are not shown on a public page, so they need a manual or in-app check.
