USDT Interest Rates in Germany (2026): Where You Can Earn

Germany is in the EU, and since 2025 that has changed the stablecoin picture more than any other rule we track. Under MiCA, licensed platforms do not let you trade USDT and may not pay interest on e-money tokens such as USDC. So the big venues — Binance, OKX, Kraken, WhiteBIT, Bybit — pay nothing on USDT here: none of them offers a USDT product to EEA users. Those with an EU licence pay far less on USDC than outside Europe, and frame it as lending or DeFi rewards rather than interest. The double-digit rates in the table come from venues with no EU licence at all.

💬 Context: money in Germany

Crypto-asset services in Germany fall under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), supervised by BaFin. Since July 1, 2026 at the latest, when MiCA's transitional period ended, a provider needs a MiCA authorisation to serve you; BaFin publishes authorisations in its company database and in ESMA's interim MiCA register. Of the venues we track, the EU entities of OKX, Bybit, Kraken, WhiteBIT, BingX, Backpack, Coinbase, Crypto.com, Bitstamp, Bitpanda and Bitvavo are in that register. Binance, MEXC, Bitfinex, Lune.fi and CoinDepo are not; the Dutch regulator AFM publicly warned in September 2025 that MEXC serves the Netherlands without a MiCA licence.

Two MiCA rules shape stablecoin yields. ESMA told licensed providers to stop making non-compliant stablecoins available for trading by the end of the first quarter of 2025 — which removed USDT from regulated platforms. And Article 50 of MiCA bars providers from granting interest on e-money tokens such as USDC; any reward tied to how long you hold the token counts as interest. KuCoin's EU entity suspended trading and deposits on February 4, 2026.

Getting started

How to start, step by step

01
Check the register. Before you deposit, look the provider up in ESMA's interim MiCA register or BaFin's company database. Search for the venue's EU entity, not the brand: for Bybit that is Bybit EU GmbH, for OKX it is OKX Europe Limited.
02
Do not expect USDT on licensed platforms. Binance, OKX, Kraken and WhiteBIT have restricted USDT for EEA users, and Bybit EU's Earn has no USDT product; OKX Europe accepts USDT deposits but freezes them, so they cannot be traded or used.
03
Read the USDC terms. A licensed provider cannot pay interest on e-money tokens. Bybit EU pays a lower flexible rate as a contractual claim, OKX Europe's reward comes from Spark and margin lending, and Kraken pays nothing on USDC in the EEA: its Opt-In Rewards cover bitcoin only here.
04
Read the base rate, not the shop window. We publish base rates and never promotional tiers: the figure you see here is the one paid with no conditions attached.
05
Keep your own records: for each payout, the date, the coin, the amount, its value in euros and the platform. The Federal Ministry of Finance lists exactly these among the details the tax office may ask for.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is it legal for people in Germany to earn on crypto?
Yes, holding crypto is legal. A MiCA licence is the provider's duty, not yours, but a licensed provider may not pay interest on e-money tokens such as USDC. The income is taxable: lending and passive staking generally fall under §22 No. 3 EStG.
Is my crypto covered by the deposit guarantee?
No. The deposit guarantee covers up to €100,000 of bank deposits per customer per bank, and BaFin says crypto assets are generally not covered.
Why do Binance, OKX and Kraken show no USDT?
Because USDT's issuer has no EU authorisation, and ESMA told licensed providers to stop making such stablecoins available for trading by the end of the first quarter of 2025. Binance delisted USDT for EEA users on March 31, 2025; Kraken and WhiteBIT say EEA clients cannot use it.
Why do some venues still show high USDT rates?
Because they have no EU licence, so MiCA's rules for licensed providers do not bind them, and their own terms do not exclude Germany. But since July 1, 2026 a provider may not offer its services to EU residents without a MiCA licence — check the venue in ESMA's register before you deposit.
