How safe is CoinW,
really?
Instead of a vague 'trusted' badge, we grade CoinW on five concrete, checkable criteria — each with sources. Here's exactly how it scores.
Criterion by criterion, with sources
- ✗
Regulation
No licence from a financial regulator to hold client funds. CoinW's Legal Statement is issued by COINW, a private limited company incorporated in the Union of Comoros (Anjouan); its other registrations — a US FinCEN money-services filing among them — are anti-money-laundering registrations, not custody licences. In August 2025 the Philippine SEC named CoinW among crypto platforms operating there without registration. It does not serve the US, the UK, Canada, the UAE, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong or mainland China, among others. Source 1 → Source 2 →

Proof-of-Reserves
CoinW publishes a Merkle-tree proof of reserves with a tool to check your own balance. The 24 September 2026 snapshot covers 3.59 million users and shows a USDT reserve ratio of 109.65%. It covers USDT only and is self-published; no auditor is named. Source →
- ✓
Flexible withdrawal
Crypto Savings flexible products can be redeemed at any time, with no lock-up. Source →
- ✗
Insurance Fund
No fund covering hacks or the loss of client funds. CoinW's protection programme covers futures liquidation losses — up to 500 USDT per user claim — not custody. Source →

Track record (2+ years incident-free)
Operating since 2017 with no confirmed hack, platform-wide withdrawal freeze or loss of client funds, so it passes our two-year rule. An October 2023 alert about $13M of outflows was raised by Cyvers and disputed by CoinW as routine cold-wallet moves; we found no confirmation of a loss. Reports in 2026 of large withdrawals held for security review concern individual accounts, not the platform. Source 1 → Source 2 → Source 3 →
